India - Nepal

My first comment would be its very easy , just have the right documents and follow the process.

Documents needed :- these are for Indians so kindly check if you are an international traveler.

1) Aadhar card or Passport

2) Original Rc card - Vehicle owner should be present

3) No need for Carnet

4) Cash - in INR is enough

5) Original driving license

Note:- If you are going to exit Nepal and go to china then you need to get stamp out done in your passport from Indian immigration at the border if you are not going into china then you don't need to do the stamp out. And if you are not going back into India through the border, but you might ship it back or fly back to India, than you need to get you carnet stamped for the vehicle also at the Indian Customs.

Be prepared for immigration:-  If you are going for stamp in immigration then they will ask you some questions regarding where you are from in India, what  you do , about family, why are you doing this trip and they might also ask about how did you get in touch with the china side or travel agency , they might ask you to show some documents about the travel agency so have some patience and co-operate with there process. then they will stamp you out and ask you to enter into Nepal.

Once you have entered into Nepal :-

1) Stamp In - Find the Nepal side of Immigration office, Go in the office will ask you to wait, then you handover the passport they will take photos and Stamp you in to Nepal - Congratulations you have entered into Nepal.

2) Bansar - Bansar is a tax you pay to Nepal for temporary import into Nepal. Remember to confirm how many days is the bansar valid for ( mostly its for 14 days, this can be extended in Katmandu). This bansar is only valid for non green taxed areas in Nepal and permits for these special areas have to be taken separately in Nepal.

3) Currency exchange and Sim -

- You can use the currency exchange office available at the border

- You can ask at some shops near the border they can support you by transferring through UPI

- Don't try to exchange currency at the exchange store inside Nepal as they don't give better rates

- UPI works in Nepal so activate in your preferred app that works in most of the shops

- Sim best is to buy from local shops near the border , mostly it will be activated in 3 hrs with good package.

Border to Katmandu:-

- The roads in Nepal are under construction so always ask the locals about the road conditions before you start towards Katmandu. My suggestion is to use the bus route that reaches Katmandu, as you will have shops and people available for help if needed.

Do not take the old route that is from borders to Katmandu ( Border - Hetauda - Khanikhet - katmandu)
